2022 AND YOUR CALLING

Wednesday, December 1, 2021

Shalom, to you my Friend and Co-Minister in the Great Commission...

As we come to the end of 2021, I am led not to speak of prophetic developments, news, stories, and analysis of something more personal. These past two years have been among the most dramatic, chaotic, world-changing, and life-changing we have ever known.

In the months before it began, in the autumn of 2019, I had a strong sense that the coming year would be one of great shakings and dark events. That was part of the leading I received to begin writing The Harbinger II to show what was happening, to give warning, and to give hope and the way to prevail in the days to come. Two months after I began writing it, the shakings began.

Most prominent of shakings was the plague that came on the world and America. Then came unrest, civil disorder, cities on fire, the dividing of the nation, and then the coming to power of a new government, the rising of an agenda that threatened religious freedom, biblical values, life itself, and the continued and now accelerated moral and spiritual fall of America.

During this time, almost everyone saw their lives disrupted and dramatically altered. Businesses were shut down, lives were shut down, churches were shut down. Some never reopened. Many believers fell out of fellowship. In general, the body of Messiah was weakened - and at a time when political and cultural forces were warring against them with an unprecedented onslaught.

And now we come to the end of 2021 - and to the beginning of a new year. What will it bring?

In the Judeo-Christian world, the end of the year is marked by two celebrations - Christmas and Hanukkah. Even though I don't believe Messiah was born at this time of year, the fact that His birth is commemorated at this time is significant. December and January constitute the darkest time of the year. And yet, we celebrate the light coming into the darkness. As for Hanukkah, known as the 'Festival of Lights' it also commemorates the light shining in the darkness. Its context is that of a nation that had once known God but had fallen away, and to such a degree, that it now began persecuting the faithful - very much like that of modern America. And yet the persecuted of that generation decided to stand for the Lord, no matter what the consequence or price. They did. And miraculously they won - against all odds. And so the light shone in the darkness.

What will the new year bring? Will it be a year of darkness? If so, we have something greater. We have the Light of the world. And He called us each to be lights in the world. Light doesn't fear the darkness or the darkness of future days - the darkness only allows the light to shine brighter. Enter this year with confidence. Don't focus on what the year will bring - but on what you will bring into it. For you are the light of God. Shine your light into darkness. Light up the year. Light up the world! And May God greatly bless you this month as you do!

Your brother and co-laborer

in His love and service,

Jonathan
