The Lord's Supper is not a Buffet

Communion, the Lord's Supper, was really a Pesach, a Passover Seder. Now the Passover is not just a supper, it's a service. The one who leads is the one who serves, who passes out the matzah, the bitter herbs, and all the other required foods. In other words, it's not a buffet. You let the leader serve you. And since the Lord's Supper is a Passover, it's the same way. The Lord is the one who serves you the bread of life. There's a reason for that. He is love. And He wants you to learn of love as well. Too often we live serving ourselves, going through life desiring, lusting, and taking. But in the Lord's Supper, God is saying, in effect: "You don't have to live like that. I will serve you. I will take care of your needs. Sit at my table. Let me minister to you." And then live your life serving, not yourself, but others. So take time today to sit at the Lord's table and let Him minister to you. And then, in His love, serve another. For this life is not a Buffet, but the Lord's Supper.
